Back In Action Again

Greetings, everyone!

This tune arrived on my lips and fingertips recently, and I decided to hit the red button so I could share it with you all, in hopes of lifting folks up a bit. It can have many meanings, but you might say it’s about standing up, dusting ourselves off and getting back in the swing of things.

I’m grateful to have my old pal, legendary bassist Andy Hess (Black Crowes, David Byrne, Tina Turner, Gov’t Mule, so many…) laying down the foundation, and I did the rest of the parts.

Narrabeen – Hershel’s unique spin on vintage vibes!

Growing up in California, Hershel is no stranger to surf culture and the music it inspires. And as lead guitarist for pop rock icon Chris Isaak and his band Silvertone since 1995, he’s spent many years crafting just the right amount of twang to create a sound of his own. He calls it “cosmopolitan surf twang” and Narrabeen is where it all comes together.

Inspired by encouragement from peers, fans and his second home at Australia’s Narrabeen Beach, Hershel has created a guitar-centric, instrumental journey that transcends pure surf rock and takes us off the beaten track into cinematic, latin-flavored cruises, 60’s dance romps, 50’s tiki lounge exotica and bachelor pad flavors.

Along for the ride are an impressive roster of A-list musicians which includes Scott Plunkett (Stevie Nicks, Don Henley, Chris Isaak, Boz Scaggs), Chuck Barber (WAR), Michael Raynor (Kurt Elling), Rafael Padilla (just about everyone!) and more.

In keeping with the tradition of classic surf albums, Narrabeen is available on 12’ vinyl which includes a free digital download card. And if vinyl isn’t your thing you can download and stream Narrabeen from your favorite digital platform.
